Stress: We all have it. Probably at least once every day something happens where we feel frustrated, angry or overwhelmed. We can feel our heart beating faster, our muscles tense and our blood pressure rises. Extended stress lowers our immune system and affects our digestive system and sleep. Something that is stressful to one person may not be to another. We all have our own triggers and how we respond to them.
Everything is energy and our bodies have an energy system just as we have a nervous system, respiratory system, etc. The energy runs along meridian lines. When we experience stress a “short” happens along those lines somewhere which halts the flow of energy. This over time results in dis-ease in the body. Keeping this energy flowing is important in maintaining good health.
Since the beginning of time, we have had a fight-or-flight response to danger/stress. When the part of your brain, called the amygdala, senses you are in danger, hormones are released that cause you to breathe faster, speeds up your heart rate and gives you a burst of energy to get out of the situation you are in whether you are fighting or fleeing. This is very useful if you are really in a dangerous situation. Unfortunately, today, everyday stressors cause the same response.
This causes a blockage in how your energy is flowing which can lead to different health issues. Stress is the number one cause of chronic illness. It drains every system in your body. Doing techniques to release the blockages and get the energy flowing again brings your body back into balance, into neutral and allows your body to be healthy.
